Autumn Fine Art - Broschen & Anhänger bei Lawrences Auctioneers

Lawrences Auctioneers present their Autumn Fine Art sale. The auction includes almost 800 lots of silver, jewellery and watches, pictures, furniture, carpets, Asian works of art and collectables.

The sale starts with silver, including Georgian and Victorian flatware, salvers, trophy cups, a table garniture, snuff boxes and vinaigrettes. The watch section includes gold pocket watches, with an example by Patek Philippe, and a Rolex Oyster Chronometer GMT-Master wristwatch with a Pepsi bezel and more wristwatches by Rolex and other makers like Breitling and Omega. The jewellery sections features many diamond and other gem set rings, earrings and necklaces, pendants featuring miniatures and rare Jasperware earrings.

The pictures section includes everything from Old Masters to contemporary work. The earlier pieces on offer are an interior scene attributed to Hendrik Gerritsz Pot, and The Descent from the Cross attributed to Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich. A selection of 19th century landscapes, river scenes and portraits, including works by Edward Wilkins Waite, Abraham Hulk and Albert Lebourg. The 20th century and modern British paintings include artists Mervyn Peake, Álvaro Guevara, Fred Cuming and James Noble. The section also offers prints from Albrecht Dürer, Eric Ravilious and Clare Leighton, and sculpture includes bronzes by Carl Payne and Helen Sinclair.

An array of furniture is offered, from 17th century South German marquetry and Georgian walnut to a Regency rosewood library table by Gillows, and Howard & Sons armchairs. A highlight for Arts and Crafts collectors is a group of Cotswold School oak furniture by Gordon Russell, together with a Gimson style rocking chair by Neville Neal.

Among the decorative arts are Meissen, Nymphenburg and Royal Worcester porcelain, Delft chargers and Victorian majolica, with a collection of contemporary raku studio pottery. Clocks include an Art Deco Jaeger-LeCoultre desk clock and an 18th century Swedish gilt and painted example. The Asian section is led by a large Tang Dynasty sancai horse and also offers Chinese blue and white and famille rose porcelain, jade archers' rings, embroidered dragon robes and Japanese Satsuma and cloisonné.
