* In a handwritten note, 1998, the sitter identified the subject as `a portrait of me and I can remember him painting it in London in the 60's`

Provenance: London, Sothebys, April 24th 1985, lot 393; London, Christie's, bt. Jonathan Riley, Emscote Lawn; Dublin, private collection; Belfast, Dickon Hall Fine Art; whence purchased by Dr McKee, 1998; Dublin, Whyte's, September 29th 2008 & May 29th 2017; private collection.
